Get that Beach Body for less than P500!

by Kring Elenzano

We all know it’s summer – the sun’s burning, the days are longer and school’s almost out. More importantly, it’s also time to hit the beach! So how do you get ready for the beach without having to spend too much? Just take note of these red hot redtag tips!

1. Chop your Locks

Getting those JLo waves doesn’t need to burn a hole in your wallet. No budget for having your hair colored? No problem! Get a new ‘do! Trim off those split ends and put spunk to you hair! This will instantly add freshness to your look even without fancy dyes or treatments. Layer it up, get yourself some full bangs or go crazy and chop half of it off! The summer sky’s the limit!

2. Smooth Bikini Line

Some may not realize it but waxing your bikini line is an absolute must this season if you’re planning to rock that hot swimsuit. Unnecessary hair peeking out is gross and could put you in very embarrassing situations. We recommend that you wax or use advanced laser treatments to zap that hair away. Ever considered going Brazilian? Trust us, it’s liberating.

3. Opt for leg creams

Getting rid of unnecessary hair doesn’t end with the bikini area. Hairy legs look horrible especially when the hair is just growing out and we know that waxing both your entire legs can be quite expensive. Good thing there are many alternatives available in the market, such as sugar wax strips like Strip It! and creams such as Veet, costing less than Php 300! Just visit your nearest beauty store and look for one that best suits you and your pain tolerance.

4. Run or exercise at home

You can never go wrong with cardio. It’s good for your whole body and it’s one of the best ways to lose those fats! And the best part is that it’s free! You don’t need instructors or even a gym for you to be able to run. Start running as early as now for about thirty minutes to an hour a day a month before hitting the beach and visualize those firm thighs, arms and tummy once you’ve put on your swimwear. If you don’t feel like going out, do some basic exercises at home. Stream aerobics and kickboxing videos from YouTube to get a free workout.

5. Get the tanned look

Being tanned this summer is fashionable but getting sunburnt isn’t. Never ever go under the sun without your trusted sun block! It won’t cost you an arm and a leg but it will save your day. Make sure you apply it at least 20 minutes before basking under the sun or hitting the water. Slather and spread it all over your body, without missing any part or you might come home with googley tan lines.

6. No to Dark Pits

Whether you’re playing beach volleyball or putting your hands up in the air while partying, one thing’s for sure – you’d have to expose those underarms and it can get quite embarrassing if those pits are dark, right? Underarm whitening treatments normally start with a chemical peel and followed with sessions of bleaching that will give you a new confidence.

7. Make-up

You don’t have to wear make-up when you’re swimming and in fact, it’s wrong on so many levels. However, it’s okay if you’re just walking around, shopping and of course, partying. If you want to wear make-up to the beach, make sure they’re not heavy and sticky. Most of all, they won’t form into yucky beads when you sweat. We recommend Maybelline’s Pure Foundation Mineral Natural Perfecting Powder Foundation to get a lasting look that’s less than Php 500. Instead of wearing lipstick, use lip tint instead with a dash of gloss – Maybelline’s Baby Lips Lip Moisturizing Balm is less than a hundred bucks.

8. Don’t go Marathon Crazy

Going on runs and marathons with friends can cost you around Php 300 to Php 500 for a short 5K distance. Running can be fun with friends but it is also free. Don’t dole out that marathon fee – organize a night run after work with officemates or a weekend run with your barkada. Just bring water or a power drink, costing you less than 50 bucks.

9. Bring baon for lunch

Prices of food can be insane nowadays and you don’t even know what you%
